Fee Setting & Collection Procedure

The Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) has a responsibility to make a Catholic education available to all Catholic students whose parents seek a Catholic education for them, insofar as this is possible, while embodying the Church’s preferential option for the poor and disadvantaged (Mandate page 50).¹ Schools have a responsibility to communicate the financial constraints under which they operate to parents enrolling their children in Catholic schools. Parents are required to make a commitment to support Catholic education financially by paying fees.

Catholic Education is committed to ensuring that disputes and complaints are dealt with fairly, objectively and in a timely manner, and that processes reflect the principles of participation, co- responsibility and subsidiarity.

Code of Conduct

This code has been developed for all Catholic Schools and describes minimum standards of conduct in all behaviour and decision -making to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students. The code applies to staff, students, volunteers, parents and guardians.

Parents wanting to work in classrooms this year must complete a ‘Code of Conduct’ course with me please. The following dates for this will be this Tuesday, 21 March and Wednesday, 22 March at 9.00am and again at 3.10pm in our school library. You only need to attend one (morning or afternoon) of the meetings.

Behaviour Management Procedure

St Brigid’s School recognises the uniqueness of each individual, created in the image and likeness of God. Our vision statement challenges us to create a learning community based on values. This is our core belief and permeates all aspects of our curriculum. We recognise the importance of developing and nourishing the whole child, and indeed, each member of our school community. St Brigid’s strives to promote respect for the rights of every person – in a safe, nurturing and respectful environment. We believe each student should be encouraged to develop habits of self-discipline and respect – for self and others. Students are expected to show respect to all staff members and visitors to the school.
When parents accept a position for their child they agree to the discipline policy of the school

Attendance & Non-Attendance Procedure

Attendance needs to be marked twice per day, using the SEQTA platform.

  • Morning Attendance needs to be done by 9.15am.
  • Afternoon Attendance needs to be done when children return from lunch.

Homework Guidelines

St Brigid’s School values the role homework has in a child’s education. Homework helps students; complementing and reinforcing classroom learning, fostering good lifelong learning and study habits, and provides an opportunity for students to be responsible for their own learning.

School Excursion Guidelines

To contribute to students’ Christian development, the starting point for all curriculum decisions will be the students themselves and their individual needs. Education that seeks to promote integrated personal development relates curriculum content to students’ real life situations (Mandate, para 66). School excursions are opportunities for students to experience learning outside of their normal school environment.
