A note from Mr Pardini

Confirmation Mass

On Sunday 13 August at 9.00am, we will celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation with Levi, Simona, Jaimee and Sam. We hope you can come along and share this sacrament with these children. Following Mass, there will be a morning tea in the hall. If you could bring a plate of food to share we would also appreciate it. Bishop Emeritus Holohan, together with a relief priest (Father Geoff Aldous) will celebrate this Mass while our Parish Priest Father Roshan is on leave.

Lions Club

Thank you to the Bridgetown Lions Club for their generous $1,000 donation towards students learning. This amount of money is a wonderfully supportive figure which we can do a lot with. Each year the Lions club kindly donate money to our school. On behalf of St Brigid's School we say a big thank you to the Lions club.

Homework Club

Homework club is held after school every Wednesday in the library for Years 4-6 students. Mrs Muir facilitates these sessions, it is a really great opportunity for your child to be supported in their weekly homework. It is essential students have their homework with them, aslo please bring a snack for afternoon tea. We ask for prompt collection of your child no later than 4pm.

Staffing 2024

You may have seen my letter from earlier in the week, but in case you missed it, we would like to welcome Ellen Pettersen and Susan Kerr to the St Brigid's staff in 2024. Ellen will be teaching Year 5 while Susan will cover Science and IT lessons across the school. In case you were wondering where our current Science teacher (Mrs Glisenti) is going, she is moving back to Perth with her family. Thank you Mrs Glisenti for sharing your passion for science with us. We wish you all the best in your future Miki!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Carlo Pardini

Foodbank

This week our Year 5 & 6 students and their teachers cooked some meals for Foodbank, an initiative we will continue this year. The purpose of Foodbank is to support those within the Parish and school community who may be in need for a variety of reasons such as poor health, stressful or unexpected circumstances.

The meals we have prepared so far include cauliflower cheese, fried rice, vegetarian quiche, butter chicken, carbonara and pizza. The meals are in single portions and in the Parish Kitchen freezer. Students donated ingredients and we have also used produce from our school garden and eggs from our chooks.

If you know someone in our school community who may benefit from meals please contact the school office, we will maintain discretion in all situations.

State Cross Country

On Thursday 3 August, six students from St Brigid’s competed in the annual School Sports WA State Cross Country Championship in Perth. This event for Y3 to 6 students is open to all Western Australian schools, with this year's event attracting 2,247 competitors. An event on this scale is quite an experience, particularly for students from rural and regional areas; well done to our St B’s competitors, you all took it in your stride, held your nerves and put in 100% effort, you should all be very proud of yourselves. A big thank you to Mrs Beesley for being at the event to support all the kids pre and post races, and to the parents for taking the time to get your child to the event.
