A note from Mr Pardini

Dear Families,

I am sure everyone is already counting down the hours until we break for the spring holiday period!

Year 5 Camp - What an awesome experience Year 5 camp was!!! From aerial adventure zip lines to a peaceful tram ride through the forests, the class were treated to a great overnight camp. I am sure there were some very tired children over the weekend. A big thank you to Mr Ternent and Mrs Pettersen who organised a great experience for us.

Creative Crew - Congratulations to our Creative Crew who travelled to the regional final recently. With the help of Mrs Willis, they competed in a series of challenges which demonstrated higher order thinking using group problem solving skills.  Although they didn't walk away with the shield this time, we are so proud of the commitment they showed during the lead up to this competition. Thank you, Mrs Willis, for facilitating the Creative Crew this year.

St Brigid's Feast Day - Wait until you see the mural that has been created by our school to celebrate being part of a St Brigid's School. In the true charism of our region, a mural has been painted (with the guidance of Mrs Price and Mrs Beesley) celebrating the faith story of our school. This work will be displayed in the central courtyard to brighten up this area - I know it will be admired for many years to come and may everyone take pride in being a part of this iconic artwork.

Spellademic - Last Thursday, six of our students attended the Regional Schools Spellademic competition in Manjimup. St Brigid's entered two teams: Year 3/4 (Marlee, Hugh & Leo) and Year 5/6 (Albie, Riley & Charlie). Our Y3/4 team placed 6th out of 14 teams, and our Year 5/6 team placed 6th out of 16 teams. Congratulations to all the students and a special mention on how well they represented St Brigid's in their efforts as well as their behaviour.

Open Afternoon / Art Exhibition - What can I say except...wow!!!! What a fabulous way to step into school and view the beautiful art and work on display. Thank you for your attendance at this afternoon. I recognise the many hours of work all teachers placed into this event to report to families. To both Ms Weaver and Mrs Beesley, your hard work paid off with a beautiful display in the hall.

School Disco - What a night! A huge thanks to our Year 5 families who coordinated the "best night ever" according to some students! We are so proud of how our parents provided this opportunity for our children. This event was so well supported and raised over $1000. Our MC 'extraordinaries' (Mel and Kristan) kept the sessions moving and grooving which is not an easy role -thank you ladies!

Code of Conduct - Following our recent Quality Catholic Education Review, a recommendation for our school is to ensure all stakeholders in our community are aware of our school's Code of Conduct. Every school as part of Catholic Education WA (CEWA) must have this as part of their working procedures. There are 12 statement in total. At a recent staff meeting, I briefly revised the 12 standards (from a staff perspective). A suggestion from the review was to include regular newsletter snippets which highlight these statements and how they may apply to us. In the section below, you will see the first Code of Conduct statement. Each newsletter, I will include a new snippet. The Code of Conduct in it’s entirety can be found on our website.

Term 4 - A reminder to everyone that Term 4 resumes on Tuesday 14 October. The Term 4 Planner has been included in this newsletter and a printed copy will also be sent home to all families. You can also access the school events on the home page of SZapp by clicking on the 'School Calendar' tile and sync to your phone calendar.

Have a wonderful and safe school holidays everyone!
