A note from Mr Pardini

Dear Families,

Are you feeling the weeks are flying by too fast? It's nearly the end of week 2 and we have so much coming! Please take the time to read about some of the happenings in our school and if you are not sure about anything, feel free to contact the front office.

Farewell Mrs Eveson

Many of you may be wondering where Mrs Eveson has been lately. Mrs Avril Eveson has been a valued staff member of St Brigid's for over 17 years, working in many classes and areas of the school. In recent years she has been an integral part of our literacy intervention program, withdrawing groups of students for support. At the end of last term, Avril made the decision to commence the 'next phase' of her life and retire from her Education Support role - which I know was a very difficult one to make.

I know many parents who read this will have had first hand experience working with Avril (either as a student themselves) or through their child recently. I know Avril will thoroughly enjoy a well-earned retirement and is looking forward to travel and long lunches with familly and friends. We will miss Avril's smile and laugh around school  and I wish to take this opportunity to wish her all the best in the future. Thank you for all you have given St Brigid's over many years Avril!

Faction Carnival

We are getting everything ready for an 'action-packed' carnival season! You may have noticed the change of date for the Jumps and Throws Carnival which is now on Tuesday 31 October. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. The track and team games will take place on Friday 3 November. We will be hosting both the jumps and track events on our school oval. Our diligent P&F will be catering a cake stall on this day. Lunch orders will still be taken on the Friday, with a limited menu of cold food. CDF Pay already has the Athletics Carnival menu loaded, so you can order now for the day.

The full program of events has also been published and we look forward to you being a part of these days.

Enjoy a wonderful weekend everyone!

Sport Uniform

The year has been busy with disucssion based on your feedback from our uniform survey last year. Our sports uniform was the first area of focus for the uniform committee, as there were issues with the supplier, quality and design.

A year has passed, and after many samples to get the colour and design right, you may have noticed the new items starting to appear. In brief, the new polo shirts (both school and faction) are sublimated which means there is no embroidery, with the pattern woven into the fabric. At this stage however, we have limited stocks which we needed to prioritise in order to replenished where we were low or out of stock.

2024 will be a year of transition giving families 12 months before we fully stock the new items. It is optional should you wish to purchase the new shirts but it is not compulsory. In 2025, all students will be phased over to the new stock. If you would like to see a sample of the new shirts, please come into the front office where they are on display.

Thank you to the uniform commmittee for many hours of discussion in reaching this point. It is with pleasure we present the story board below which outlines the visual representation of our new sports uniform from Kindy to Year 6.

You will note on the story board below, a navy sock is included. We will be taking supply of a navy blue sock with our school colours on the band.  We hope the darker sock makes all your washing dreams come true! Socks will be made a part of our compulsory uniform policy and will be expected to be worn by all students from the start of the new year.

In an effort to work with both existing and new stock, we have developed a pricing structure (see below).

As mentioned, there will only be a limited availability of the new shirts, for those sizes that are currently low. In the new year, we will have more sizes for purchase.

Thank you once again for your support of our uniform policy. Please come in to view the new shirts or talk to the front office should you have any queries about this.

A message from our town Ranger

As we welcome the warmer weather and head into our summer season, it is always wonderful to see children, teenagers and families making use of our beautiful Blackwood River near the bridge, making their own fun and enjoying themselves in their free time. A friendly reminder to please be respectful of this natural setting by cleaning up after yourself and not leaving any litter. We want everyone in our community and visitors to our town to enjoy using this area and ensure our river is kept clean.
