A note from Mr Pardini

Dear Families,

There is so much happening in these upcoming weeks! I have been away this week on leave, however I will be back tomorrow in time for the Blues.

Faction Athletics Carnival

Thank you for your support of our Faction athletics carnival last week. It was a very warm day, but I stopped a few times during the day to take in the view - it was so nice to see our families spread amongst the shade of the trees with their children dressed in our faction colours enjoying each other's company. Thank you for making our carnival such a beautiful spirit.

A huge thanks to Mrs Donna Beesley for her coordination and preparation (including the training) to make this day a very smooth event from start to finish. A day like this doesn't just happen and you made it seem easy Donna! With the support of the entire staff, we look forward to the Interschool Carnival also held on our oval on Friday 24 November.

A huge congratulations to both Evora Giroux and Brooke Rutten who were awarded the Declan Kane Spirit of St Brigid's award. Both these students deserved sharing this award which acknowledged their beautiful attitude all day and team ethic. It was lovely to witness first hand how these girls encouraged and supported not only their team mates, but all those around them. We are so lucky to have these girls in our senior class leading by example.

The results from the carnival are included within this newsletter.

AGM

We have added a tile on our app page where you can nominate someone (or yourself!) to the School Advisory Council or our P&F (Parents and Friends) for 2024.

On Tuesday 28 November at 6.00pm we will hold our school AGM in our library where both these committees present a summation of the year. If you are nominated, you are required to attend the AGM so we can put forward your nomination.

Blues weekend

It's finally here! The Blues is not only a busy week in the town, but also our school. Of course, our P&F are preparing for a big weekend, but the school is too! Here is what's happening this week for your information:

  • Friday - Year 3/4/5/6 students will walk up to Bridgetown Primary School for a 1.45pm concert.
  • Friday - the oval will be closed to students from 1.00pm so campers can park on the oval.
  • Saturday & Sunday - breakfast provided for all the campers.
  • Monday 13/11 - campers will depart the oval and clean up will take place in the morning.

If you are on a roster for the weekend, thank you for your time in making this our biggest fundraiser of the year! I look forward to all the excitement this weekend brings to our town.

Assembly Friday 10 November

Please join us outside underneath the trees of the school oval from 8.45am tomorrow, Friday 10 November for our assembly. We have decorated this area with poppies, an enduring symbol of remembrance of the First World War, we will observe Remembrance Day at tomorrow's assembly with "The Ode of Remembrance".

Last week, we held a "Performing Arts Talent Show" contest, we had a huge number of students show case their talents, so we look forward to announcing the winning participants at tomorrow's assembly. Thank you to Mrs Rubie Watts for coordinating this.

Also, at this assembly we will also present the final MJR award of 2023! I wonder who our deserving person from our St B's community will be?

Pupil Free Days

A reminder to all our families, we will once again follow the Blues weekend with two pupil free days in Week 6 of this term. Please note Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 November the school will be closed. School will resume on Wednesday 15 November in this week.

I hope you all enjoy the Blues weekend everyone - see you next week on Wednesday 15 November.

Carlo Pardini

Principal

Faction Carnival

A note from Mrs Beesley ...

Congratulations to all the students who tried their hardest and collectively contributed to their house faction points. Well done to those individual students who achieved Champion and Runner-Up Champion. A special mention of acknowledgement to Brooke Rutten (Y6) and Evora Giroux (Y6) who earned the Declan Kane Spirit of St Brigid's Award.

Scitech Incursion

Next Friday 17 November we welcome Scitech to St Brigid's who will deliver a Science Show and Workshops for our PP to Y6 students. Their program will include hands on scientific investigations and explorations and use scientific thinking to explore surprising mysteries including gravity-defying, colour-changing and mind-bending demonstrations! This fun and exciting program has been time tabled throughout the day for our PP to Y6 students.

What's been happening in Pre-Primary?

This week in Pre-Primary we have been busy working on our teen numbers in maths and breaking numbers apart.

In Religion we have been learning about having patience and how sometimes we have to wait for things that we are excited about that we wish could happen right now!

We also celebrated Hamish's birthday!

Nominations P&F and School Advisory Council

A "tile" has been added to the homepage (bottom right) on SZapp. This will direct you to the nomination form. Please consider being part of either of these committees, they are not demanding roles; our P&F meets twice a term and the School Advisory Council once per term (as per new terms of reference). Your involvement is the best way to have both insight and input into our school and work collaboratively as genuine partners in your child's education.

Sport Uniform Sale

As we are still carrying stock of some sizes of the older style (sport shirt and faction polo), we are now offering these for a sale price of $15 per shirt. Students will still be able to wear these shirts during 2024.

Introducting the St Brigid's sports uniform!
