A note from Mr Pardini

Dear Families

Mrs Lapinski - At the start of this week I communicated to the parents of Year 6 the news about their child's new teacher once Mrs Barber takes on the role of Acting Principal at St Joseph's Pemberton. I am pleased to announce to the school community, the placement of Mrs Jodie Lapinski in the shared role of Year 6 teacher (from 12 May) together with Mrs Beesley. Mrs Lapinski may be well known to some of you as a Middle school teacher at Kearnan College Manjimup. We look forward to working with Mrs Lapinski in the near future. 

Swimming Carnival - Thank you one and all for making our Swimming Faction carnival a great day last week. It was so wonderful to witness everyone get involved in the team spirit of the day and celebrate everyone's achievements in the pool. The Year 6 Faction Captains did a fantastic job assisting with the marshalling. The carnival ran very smoothly thanks to the organisation of Mrs Beesley who ensured everyone had a go. Next week (Thursday 20 March), we look forward to coming together once again, this time for the Interschool Carnival. We are pleased to be sharing the day with 4 other primary schools:

• Northcliffe District High School
• Bridgetown Primary School

The Interschool carnival will take place at the Boyup Brook swimming pool. All families connected to this carnival have been sent information via SZapp. Please take note of the information regarding this carnival so we can all travel to Boyup Brook on Thursday and enjoy a great day out! Go St Brigid's!

NAPLAN - congratulations to all Year 3 and 5 students who took part in NAPLAN assessments this week. Loathe or love these national assessments, you have all done a wonderful job completing the suite of tests. In time, the results are returned to all families. 

Parent Teacher Meetings - The link to book a 10-minute meeting time for one-to-one parent interviews (from 12.00pm on Tuesday 8 April) has been sent out to all families. A reminder to everyone, on this day we will close the school at midday (12.00pm) so all teachers can accommodate these meetings. Your support arranging for your child to be collected at 12.00pm on this day is appreciated. The on-line booking system is located on the home page of SZapp.

Pre-Kindy sessions - Next week, we welcome the youngest members into our school (our Pre Kindy children). Together with their parents, students will commence with four sessions (the final four weeks of term) in preparation for the official start of our Pre-Kindy program in Term 2. Next term, once children have turned 3, they may attend without their parent present. 

Assembly - please join us tomorrow (8.45am) in the hall for the Year 4 Assembly. We look forward to presenting the next round of Merit Certificates at this assembly. 

Ordination of the Bishop of Bunbury - Next Wednesday 19 March, Mrs Muir, Mrs Barber, myself and two of our Year 6 students will attend the ordination and installation of the new Bishop of Bunbury. At this Mass, which will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness, we will see Father George Kokodziej installed as the 5th Bishop of Bunbury. We look forward to meeting the new Bishop in term 3 as he travels to Bridgetown for the sacrament of Confirmation. 

Harmony Day - the teachers have organised some simple ways to celebrate this National Day. Please see the flyer attached to the section below. The theme for Harmony Day is 'Everybody belongs!' We look forward to celebrating this day together next Friday 21 March.
