A note from Mr Pardini

Dear Families,

Ordination of the Bishop of Bunbury - Yesterday, I travelled to Bunbury to attend the Ordination and Installation of the 5th Bishop of Bunbury at St Patrick's Cathedral. Along with 870 other people, we welcomed Bishop George in a massive celebration which latest over 2 hours! Together with Mrs Muir, Mrs Barber and two of our Year 6 students (Millie Puljiz and Molly Varnavides) we were privileged to represent our school to hear how Bishop George will serve the Bunbury Diocese. It was a real experience to witness this Mass celebrated by 26 Bishops from around Australia as well as over 70 priests. Congratulations Bishop George and we look forward to welcoming you to Bridgetown one day.

Pre-Kindy sessions - Although I was away attending the ordination, I heard our first Pre-Kindy session was a success. I am sure there were some very nervous Pre-kindy children (and parents) who braved their first morning in their new school. Thank you, Mrs Tassos and Mrs Humby, for making their first experience of school such a fun morning. We welcome our Pre-Kindy class to school for the next three Wednesdays until the program officially starts next term. I can't wait to meet you all next week.

Harmony Day - Don't forget...tomorrow is Harmony Day and your child is welcome to accessorise in something orange to recognise that we are part of a multicultural country, and we acknowledge all nationalities. The theme for Harmony Day is 'Everybody belongs!' We look forward to celebrating this day together tomorrow.

School Advisory Council - This week we held the first School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting of 2025. I am pleased to say we have filled all our executive positions. We welcomed two new members; Bree Payton-Teale who will report on the latest happenings of the P&F, as well as Deccan Schembri who was co-opted on for this year as a general member. Ideally, we would like one more general member on the council which makes our quorum 'even' and more attainable each meeting. If you think you would like to join the SAC (we meet once a term), please contact the front office.

  • Bianca Turner - Chair
  • Dianne Roberts - Treasurer
  • Ashlee Mentlein - Secretary
  • Bree Payton-Teale - P&F Representative
  • Rosie Wells - Parish Representative
  • Matt Tuckett - General Member
  • Deccan Schembri - Co-opted General Member
  • Father Edwin - Ex-officio
  • Carlo Pardini - Ex-officio

May I take this opportunity to thank David Moir for several years on our council. David has recently tendered his resignation from his position. Thank you, David, for the time you gave us to meet regularly, in support of the governance of St Brigid's.

Parent Teacher Meetings - A reminder, the bookings are live and waiting for you to secure your 10-minute time slot with your child's teacher. Please visit the 'home page' on our school app to book. A reminder, on Tuesday 8 April, to accommodate these interviews, the school will close at 12.00pm. Thank you.

Staffing update - Recently, the leadership team have worked through some minor changes to our Education Assistant (EA) support staff, to take effect from the start of Term 2. These changes have been made to suit the needs of various classes and offer support matched to that need. From Term 2, the following EAs will be in these rooms supporting the teaching and learning programs:

  • Pre-Primary – Mrs Jo Hoare (Monday to Friday)
  • Year 1 – Mrs Jessie Bosley (Monday to Thursday), Miss Abbey Pitts (Friday)
  • Year 2 – Miss Abbey Pitts (Monday to Thursday)
  • Year 4 – Mrs Sandra Tuck (Monday to Friday).

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
