Thursday 10 April 2025 (Week 10)
A note from Mr Pardini
Dear Families,
Hot cross buns - Well, what can I say, except 'well done' to the amazing band of parents who came in on Sunday to make over 600 hot cross buns. The smell from these delicious baked goods permeated the school for days following the bake off! Thank you to Mike and Mel Kneale who gave us both their time and ingredients to lead the baking and make it happen! A note of thanks also to Bree and Ashley who coordinated all the helpers for the day. I managed to eat 4 hot cross buns on Sunday alone...and I am sure many of our families enjoyed them fresh from the oven too. What a perfect way to lead us into the Holy Week with a small scrumptious treat!
Good Standing Policy - this week I had the opportunity to talk to parents about St Brigid's 'Good Standing' Policy which will take effect from Term 2. Below is the flyer we handed out which contains information about this policy which is linked to our Positive Behaviour strategy. You can also locate this page on our school website. If you have any queries regarding our Good Standing Policy, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Parent Teacher Meetings - Thank you to our parents for presenting on Tuesday night for one-to-one interviews. As this is the first mode of reporting to families, I appreciate your support in making a time with your child's teacher. I wish to extend a thanks to the teachers who spent a late night at school to meet all families. Remember, if you weren't able to make an appointment, please get in touch with your child's teacher early in Term 2.
Big Walk for Water & Easter Raffle - What can we say but a huge thank you for supporting this year's Caritas Missions fundraisers. The entire school walked around a set course to connect with the harsh reality that children in third world countries walk each day (and a lot longer distance!) just for some water. Thank you Mrs Barber and the Year 6 class for coordinating these fundraising events, which have raised in excess of $3,000 - this is a staggering amount, thank you for your generosity!
Welcome Early Career students - Next term we welcome two practicum students from Edith Cowan University. Mrs Hayley Cook will be working in Pre Primary and Miss Lillian Oldham will be in Year 4. We look forward to working with these ladies for the first 8 weeks of Term 2.
Bon Voyage Mrs Harrison - For the first six weeks of next term, Mrs Margaret Harrison will be enjoying a family trip overseas, and some well-earned long service leave, in Italy and Scotland. We wish Margaret safe travels and the best holiday! Mrs Georgie Reape will assume a full time position whilst Margaret is away with Mrs Ashlyn Humby also covering some time in the front office. The office will still have someone at the front desk 5 days per week, so please do not hesitate to call the school or email if you require assistance.
Stations of the Cross - thank you to our Year 5 class who beautifully led the Stations of the Cross today. In a poignant way, we have been reminded of the sacredness of Easter and the events which led to Jesus dying on the cross. Well done year 5!
Basketball cover update - You may have heard your children talk about the concrete footings being poured in preparation for the steel structure to be erected over the holidays. We look forward to returning to school next term and seeing a brand new cover over our school basketball court. In due course, we look forward to progressing with other capital works in this areas, including a resurface of the court floor, lighting and water installation.
As tomorrow is a pupil free day, with the staff attending professional development, may I take this opportunity to thank you all for your support over this term. I trust everyone enjoys a restful break over the April school holidays and I look forward to school returning on Tuesday 29 April.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
